After his huge win at the weekend Mataderos is the biggest mover in this week’s New Zealand Cup week rankings.
The Robert and Jenna Dunn-trained trotter cleared out to dominate Sunday’s Group Three Majestic Son D G Jones Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup and has gone up seven places in the rankings for the Dominion Trot on Show Day, November 12.
Mataderos is now sixth overall.
The Dunns will have a major bearing on the race with their stable star Sundees Son the defending champion and number one pick, while stablemate Chief Of Staff moved up three places to eleventh.
His rise in the rankings comes after he quinellaed the Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup with Mataderos.
The IRT New Zealand Cup rankings have barely moved over the past week, though it’s another Dunn runner Franco Niven that is creeping up the leaderboard.
Franco Niven has gone from 30th to 27th after winning at Addington on Friday night.
The top contenders for the big race on Tuesday, November 9 remain unchanged, with defending champion Self Assured, Amazing Dream, Classie Brigade, Di Caprio and Copy That making up the top five.
