Bettor’s Delight gelding One Change led from the outset for leading harness racing driver Blair Orange and kicked clear of a nice field to win the feature pace at Addington tonight for Otago trainer Amber Hoffman.
One Change showed plenty of improvement after some tidy recent runs and won tonight’s race by more than 3 lengths after cutting out the final 800m of the event in 54.5 seconds.
“He is a lovely horse to do anything with and arrived down to us in terrific order, so it is just a matter of keeping him happy really,” Hoffman said after the race.
One Change beat the Robert Dunned trained pairing of Classie Brigade and Henry Hubert with a small margin back to DiCaprio in fourth.
Hoffman is going to take One Change to Ashburton next week for the FFA race to be run over a mile.
Another Otago trained horse won the feature Trot at Addington tonight after Lauries Legacy (Majestic Son) dead-heated with Phoebe Onyx (Wishing Stone) in the Clarkson Signs Trot over 2600m from a stand. Lauries Legacy was trained and driven by Oamaru based trainer Brad Williamson.
Hot favourite for the race Five Wise Men found his 30m handicap too much and wilted to fourth after sitting parked for the final lap.
