Steve and Amanda Telfer bring a strong team south for the Wairio harness racing meeting on Sunday at Winton, with their six runners targeting some of the richer races on the twelve race card.
In Race Three the $30,000 SBSR/Diamond Creek/Caduceus Three Year Old Fillies Sorority, the Telfers line up Mythical (Bettor’s Delight) and Caught The Eye (Captain Crunch).
Mythical won nicely at Ascot Park last month but faces tougher opposition in Sunday’s three year old feature. Blair Orange will do the driving.

“It is a bit of a step up in grade and she has a bit of a hitch in her gait, but she’s got the right man on to do the job,” Amanda said.
Caught The Eye last raced at Nelson in the middle of last month and has been back to the trials, running fourth behind some smart types.
“She’s in a good space at the moment. I took her to Nelson, then gave her a wee freshen up and took her back to the trials. She’s ready to go and is the stable’s best bet.”
BD Hall (Andover Hall) starts in Race Seven, the $15,000 Wilbur Ellis Limited Gold Chip Final. He possesses perfect manners and it’s hoped they’ll overcome the twenty metre handicap.

“He’s such a big boy and we didn’t think he’d get as far as he has, but he continues to improve. So far he’s brought good manners. Let’s hope it continues.”
Race Nine is heat one of the $15,000 Southern Standardbred Southern Belle Speed Series, with Sweet Diamond (Sweet Lou) and Molly Belwin (Art Major) wearing the Telfer colours.
Sweet Diamond has been out of form for a while but is racing against her own sex and is the highest rated horse in the field.

“We’ve had some joints injected and changed her work up a bit. She’s just out of form at the moment and we’re struggling to get her back to her best.”
Molly Belwin was disappointing at the Northern Southland meeting and her form has been a bit in and out. She runs from the outside of the second row.

“Her form is patchy. She’s good when she’s good and when she’s not she’s quite average. She’s been down at Brett Gray’s the whole time. She just needs to get the right run and for things to go her way.”
Built For Glory (Bettor’s Delight) takes his place in the $25,000 Otautau Four Square Supermarket Wairio Cup. He starts off the 30 metre handicap and gives his main rival Miraculous a ten metre start.

“He’s in great shape at the moment. He had his first stand start (in the Nelson Cup) and blew it. Hopefully he can bring his manners on Sunday and be right in the finish.”
