Monticello, NY— In a photo finish, Chip Chip Conway (Conway Hall) captured the $7,200 Open harness racing trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Sept. 6).
Innisfallen (Brandon Parker) left the gate first with Patrick Hanover alongside second and Tesla Seelster on the inside in third. Jim Taggart Jr and Chip Chip Conway were on the far outside in fourth, moving on up. The 4-5 favorite Chip Chip Conway made his way to the front as they passed the first quarter mile in :29.
Chip Chip Conway was leading the way, with Patrick Hanover on the inside in second. In the stretch over to the half, Justin Huckabone and Just A Passenger were making their way to battle for second as they passed the half mile in :59.1.
Moving around the turn, Chip Chip Conway was holding on to the lead. Just A Passenger and pocket trip Patrick Hanover were fighting for second. Tesla Seelster was on the inside in fourth as they passed the three-quarter mile mark in 1:28.1.
At the top of the stretch, Chip Chip Conway had the lead. Michael Merton and Partick Hanover were ready to challenge the leader as they made their way to the front. Gregory Merton and Tesla Seelster were on the inside looking to make their move.
Chip Chip Conway got away to win the feature in a photo by a neck with Patrick Hanover, in 1:57.2. Tesla Seelster finished in third.

Chip Chip Conway, a 7-year-old gelding, is trained by Gary Messenger and owned by Kenneth Weckstein of Maryland and Gary Messenger from New York. He paid $3.60 to win.
