CLAYTON, Del. — Longtime harness racing horseman Lee C. Daniels, Jr. passed away at his Clayton, Del. home on August 4 at the age of 87.
Mr. Daniels, who combined farming with his passion for Standardbreds, raced horses at Delaware and Maryland racetrack during the last half of the 20th century. He was a trainer and a driver. His late son, Mark Daniels, was also a First State horseman whose skill was driving trotters.
He was preceeded in death by Elinor, his wife of 43 years. Daniels is survived by his children; daughter, Terry (Rodger) Montgomery; son, Kenneth (Pat) Daniels; and daughter, Cheryl (Kathy) Daniels; sister, Helen Butler; a brother, Ralph Daniels; many nephews, nieces, cousins, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation and memorial service was held in Smyrna, Del. with a private burial scheduled for at a later date.
