Kenziesky Hanover and harness racing driver Jason Bartlett left little doubt why they were made the race favorite in capturing the $39,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Trot Thursday at MGM Yonkers Raceway.
Racing over a sloppy, rain-soaked track with a two second allowance, the seventh race feature saw Kandy Sweet (Austin Siegelman) get to the front and then was confronted and passed by Kenziesky Hanover at the first quarter in :28.3.
From there Kenziesky Hanover and Bartlett held the field at bay over the off track, cutting the half mile in :59 and the three-quarters in 1:27.3.
Then in the stretch, Kenziesky Hanover found a :28.4 last quarter mile and pulled away with a three and one-half length triumph in 1:56.2. No Mas Drama (Tyler Buter) was second with Broadway Athena (Daniel Dube) third.
KENZIESKY HANOVER REPLAY
It was the third straight win for Kenziesky Hanover, a seven-year-old mare by Cantab Hall. She is trained and co-owned by Jeff Cullipher with Pollack Racing, LLC and paid $3.80 to win.
