Monticello, NY— E R Shane (Swan For All, Bruce Aldrich Jr) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Thursday afternoon (Dec. 28).
Hot Summer Knight (Kyle Dibenedetto) took the early lead, followed by Patrick Hanover (Jim Devaux). From the outside, Nancy Bar (Michael Merton) stole the lead as they passed the first quarter mile in :29.3.
As they approached the half mile in 1:00.2, Nancy Bar led the way by a length over Hot Summer Knight. From the outside, E R Shane rushed to challenge the leader.
Making their way down the backstretch, Nancy Bar and E R Shane were eyeball to eyeball for the lead. Hot Summer Knight followed in third. They passed the three-quarter mile in 1:30.
As they made their way down the stretch, E R Shane took the lead and crossed the wire first in 2:00.3. A length back, Nancy Bar followed in second. Patrick Hanover finished in third.

E R Shane is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Bruce Aldrich Jr and trained by Laura Aldrich. He paid $12.80 to win.
Jim Devaux drove four winners on the card. Adam Moeykens and Bruce Aldrich Jr had driving doubles. Laura Aldrich had a training double.
