Jett Propelled (Roddy’s Bags Again) raced aggressively and won the $51,200 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Late Closer Final for three-year-old harness racing pacing fillies at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (March 27).
Jet Propelled left the quickest off the gate approaching the quarter pole. The 1/9 betting favorite, Curtsyforpurrseco, left from the outside and secured a spot in fourth approaching the quarter. Jet Propelled cleared to the lead and reached the opening quarter in :27.4 over a sloppy race track.
Smalltown Bad Girl became anxious and sprinted for the lead past the quarter pole. Smalltown Bad Girl continued to park out Grace O’Malley, who was parked half a mile. The two fillies battled for the lead at the half in :57.4, a :30 second quarter. Curtsyforpurrseco circled three-wide down the backstretch when Grace O’Malley tired. Smalltown Bad Girl continued on the lead passing the three quarters in 1:27.1.
Jet Propelled and driver Barton Dalious pulled the pocket and forced Curtsyforpursecco to continue on that three wide path.
In deep stretch Jett Propelled was asked for more and she responded winning by three quarters of a length in 1:57.

Jett Propelled is owned and trained by Robert R. Shahan of Harrington, Delaware. Curtsyforpurrseco finished second and Bella’s Dream closed to finish third.
In other action, Misty Coast (Powerful Mist) won the $26,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace.
Misty Coast and driver and Art Stafford Jr. was under a full head of speed and denied Southwind Icenfire the early lead. Southwind Icenfire retreated to the pocket. Misty Coast led the field to an opening quarter in a blazing :26.1.
Misty Coast set sail and continued on the lead to the half in :55.1 Grandeur Seelster braved a first over blast down the backstretch. Jody followed second over. Misty Coast maintained a length and a half advantage and breezed to the three quarters in 1:22.4, a :27.3 quarter.
Southwind Icenfire dived along the pylons late. Misty Coast held off that challenge and won by a head in 1:52.2. She paid $4.20 for the win.

Misty Coast is owned by Stephen Messick of Laurel, Delaware and is trained by Les Givens. Southwind Icenfire finished second and Jody was third.
Beat Cop, who has won eight consecutive races battles future star Captain Pete who has parlayed four wins in a row. They battle in the $51,600 DSBF Late Closer Final.
