Wally Hennessey added another line to his harness racing resume on Monday (Oct. 28) afternoon at Saratoga Casino Hotel after he notched $80 million in career driving earnings.
Hennessey only needed $2,990 coming into the Monday matinee card and he quickly collected that sum in the first four races.
In the fifth race, an $8,000 conditioned pace, Hennessey solidified the milestone with a win with American Hope ($2.80). The 68-year-old reinsman piloted the Jaymes Mcassey student to a gate-to-wire victory in 1:56.4 by a half length.
Hennessey followed that win with three additional victories on the card with Bout Damn Time A ($3.80), Clover ($2.10), and Pit Boss Hanover ($3.70) for a grand slam.
Despite starting the season three months later, Hennessey has climbed to the top of the driving ranks, sitting second with 209 wins and $1.56 million earned. Brett Beckwith leads the standings with 262 wins and $2.14 million earned.
The multiple Hall of Famer Hennessey has 11,846 career driving victories to go along with a lengthy resume and now $80 million in career driving earnings.
