Northfield, OH — The Iron Maiden Series, one of the most popular harness racing series at MGM Northfield Park, will kick off on Saturday (April 6).
The series, which starts off the spring season at the Home of the Flying Turns, is divided into four divisions by gait and sex. Conditions are the same for each division: “Non-winners of 1 pari-mutuel race (Ohio-sired N/W 2) or $10,000 lifetime through March 31, 2024.”
There will be four $8,400 legs and a $20,000 guaranteed Final for each division. The Iron Maiden Series does not require any pre-nomination or entry fees to compete, and horses can join the series in any leg they choose.
To qualify for the Final, horses do not have to race in all four legs, including the opening leg.
Draws for the Iron Maiden begin on Tuesday (April 2) for the Filly & Mare pacers, to be raced on Saturday (April 6). Next is the draw for the Horse and Gelding pacers Wednesday (April 3) to be raced on Sunday (April 7). The Horse and Gelding Trotters will be drawn on Thursday (April 4) to be raced on Tuesday (April 9), and finally, the opening leg of the Filly and Mare trotters will be drawn on Friday (April 5) to be raced on Wednesday (April 10).
