Lexington, KY — Despite a plethora of Grand Circuit harness racing action this weekend in the Midwest, The Red Mile is the place to be Sunday (Aug. 11) to Tuesday (Aug. 13). The historic Bluegrass venue will host 52 pari-mutuel miles with 41 stakes contests highlighted by six second round $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series (KYSS) events for freshman and sophomores for both gaits and genders. The 2-year-olds take center stage this week.
Looksgoodinloulou (Sweet Lou) seeks to improve on her highly anticipated debut in her respective leg of the KYSS for 2-year-old filly pacers in the sixth race on Sunday’s card. From the world champion mare Looksgoodinaromper, Looksgoodinloulou overtook and outlasted stablemate Sweet Ballad to break her maiden in 1:52.1 with a last quarter mile in :25.3.
Yannick Gingras is scheduled to hold the reins for fellow Hall of Fame member, Ron Burke.
Looksgoodinloulou competes as a homebred for her trainer’s stable and Weaver Bruscemi. The filly is the first foal out of dam who collected $322,378 on the racetrack and was the 2019 Ohio 2-year-old champion female pacer.
Looksgoodinaromper was also conditioned by Burke and is the daughter of Don’t Blame Her who earned $830,555 during her time on the track.
Her daughter is 6-5 on the morning line and will leave from post position two.
Yo Tillie (Tactical Landing-Consolidator) seeks to keep her unblemished record intact in Monday’s 11th race for trainer, driver and owner Verlin Yoder in second round KYSS action for freshman filly trotters. She will again be steered by Yoder and commences her mile from post position five in the field of 10.
She is 3-1 on the morning line after winning all five of her starts and earning $134,500 in her brief career.
Yo Tillie was bred by GBW Breeding Farms and Black Creek Farm. Her dam was an Ohio champion as a 3-year-old and banked $570,387.
Yoder purchased Yo Tillie for $25,000 at last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale under the name Tactoulator.
The powerful tandem of Burke and Gingras have another talented prospect in Sipponsearoc. The daughter of Downbytheseaside-Queen M Anne places her perfect three-for-three record on the line in the second leg of the KYSSCS for 2-year-old filly pacers.
Sipponsearoc will leave from post position five in the field of five after establishing her lifetime mark of 1:50.1 last week over in the first leg of this series.
The filly scored by a neck in her last contest over favored stablemate Louprint to increase her lifetime earnings to $70,000.
Owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, R A S Racing and Knox Services, Sipponsearoc was a $77,000 yearling purchase at the 2023 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
She was bred by Trent Stohler Stable and Alesha Binkley.
Sipponsearoc is also out of a dam that was a standout in the Buckeye State and earned $374,337 on that circuit.
