Harness racing driver John MacDonald drove four winners on the card at Vernon Downs on Saturday (October 8).
MacDonald combined with trainer Jessica Okusko for wins with Valentine Express ($3.70), and Rock On Express ($5.60).Ā Ā He won his other two with trainer Jessica Hines getting victories with Sgt Papa Daddy ($5.10), and Adagio De La Tour ($3.00).
Ongoing Royalty (Royalty For Life) and driver Steeven Genois scored his fourth straight win taking the featured $7,500 trot.
Beyond Kronos (Leon Bailey) was first to the quarter in :27.4.Ā Ā He used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1.Ā Ā Ongoing Royalty ($8.00) made his move first-over heading to the final turn and battled with Beyond Kronos all the way around the final turn.Ā Ā Ongoing Royalty led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.
As they made the turn for home Ongoing Royalty and Beyond Kronos continued to slug it out.Ā Ā Ongoing Royalty broke free and won in 1:55.1.Ā Ā Southwind Falcon (Ron Harp) came up to finish second.Ā Ā Beyond Kronos had to settle for third.
Ongoing Royalty is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Jack McNeil for owners Phillip Trudeau and Fannie Saul-Beaulieu.Ā Ā It was his fifth win this season and his 10thĀ career victory.
