MacDonald has hot streak, wins four at Vernon

Harness racing driver John MacDonald drove four winners on the card at Vernon Downs on Saturday (October 8).

MacDonald combined with trainer Jessica Okusko for wins with Valentine Express ($3.70), and Rock On Express ($5.60).  He won his other two with trainer Jessica Hines getting victories with Sgt Papa Daddy ($5.10), and Adagio De La Tour ($3.00).

Ongoing Royalty (Royalty For Life) and driver Steeven Genois scored his fourth straight win taking the featured $7,500 trot.

Beyond Kronos (Leon Bailey) was first to the quarter in :27.4.  He used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1.  Ongoing Royalty ($8.00) made his move first-over heading to the final turn and battled with Beyond Kronos all the way around the final turn.  Ongoing Royalty led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.

As they made the turn for home Ongoing Royalty and Beyond Kronos continued to slug it out.  Ongoing Royalty broke free and won in 1:55.1.  Southwind Falcon (Ron Harp) came up to finish second.  Beyond Kronos had to settle for third.

Ongoing Royalty is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Jack McNeil for owners Phillip Trudeau and Fannie Saul-Beaulieu.  It was his fifth win this season and his 10^th career victory.
