17 QUALIFIERS SET FOR TUESDAY

A total of 17 harness racing qualifying races will be held on Tuesday morning (June 18) at The Meadows, starting at 10:30am.  Thirteen of the races will be for 2YO trotters and pacers.  Brooklyn Wolf, a Sweet Lou colt out of the Tim Twaddle Stable, is the highest-priced yearling purchase from last fall making his debut.  He was a $130,000 purchase at the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg last November.  As always, all qualifiers can be viewed live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association Facebook page and are archived the next day here.

 FIRST FRESHMEN MAKE PARI-MUTUEL DEBUT

Wednesday’s card will feature the pari-mutuel debut of Skyline Sanddollar (Sweet Lou), who has drawn post 1 in a NW1 pace, Race #3 on the Wednesday card.  The filly will be the first freshman to compete in a wagering event at The Meaodws this year and will face a field of three- and four-year-old fillies and mares.  Dan Altmeyer trains the filly, a $75,000 yearling purchase last fall at Lexington.  Hunter Myers is scheduled to drive.

Two races later, a full field of eight freshmen filly pacers will compete in a 2YO Filly Maiden.  Ava’s Remy, a homebred daughter of Papi Rob Hanover’s first crop, is the morning line favorite for the Ron Burke Stable.  Ronnie Wrenn will drive the filly from post 6.  Thursday afternoon, a full field of trotting fillies will make their first wagering starts in the second race.  Seven different sires will be represented in the 8-horse field.

POP-UP SERIES START THIS SATURDAY

The Meadows’ Race Office announces that the first Pop-Up Series of the summer will begin this coming Saturday, June 22, with the entry box closing this Wednesday for 2YO filly trotters.  On Thursday, June 27, the first round will take place of a Pop-Up Series for freshmen filly pacers, while the Friday, June 28 card will feature Pop-Up Series events for freshman colt pacers and colt trotters.

There is no starting fee, and preliminary legs will go for $10,000 with finals set for $15,000.  Contact The Meadows Race Office for additional information.

THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE

The Meadows Racing will race Wednesday and Thursday at 12:45pm, Friday evening at 5:10pm and Saturday at 12:45pm, with 13-race cards planned daily this week.
