Las Vegas, NV – October 24, 2024 – In recognition of Nevada Day, Friday, October 25th, the Nevada Standardbred Association (“NVSA”) announces the creation of the Nevada Standardbred Development Program (“NSDP”).
This Program has been created to help develop and fund harness racing performance. The purpose of the NSDP is to help provide for the performance life of Standardbreds associated with NVSA Members, Owners, Breeders Contributors, and Sponsors. NSDP performance includes Racing, Breeding and Events (such as Western, Driving, English, etc.).
About the Program:
Beginning in 2024 for a modest fee of $1,500USD, Stallion Breeders/Owners may Register their Sires as a recognized sire for the Nevada Standardbred Development Program. Broodmare Breeders/Owners may registration fee of $300USD, may Registered in the NSDP. The Broodmare Registration option has been provided to ensure Broodmare Breeders/Owners who want to support the Nevada Standardbred program are able to participate should the Sire not be registered. The 2024 Registration is for the life of the Stallion/Broodmare and is transferrable. For Sires/Broodmares, foals either born or yet to be born, are or will be eligible to Enroll to participate in the NSDP.
What does the Enrollment mean? This enables all foals, registered with the USTA, Standardbred Canada, or their local jurisdiction (e.g. Australian Harness Racing), to Enroll in the NSDP for sponsored races, events and awards. Registered Sires and Broodmares would also be eligible for breeding awards. For 2024 the Foal Enroll Fee is $200USD and represents a lifetime fee.
Sire/Broodmare Registrations and Foal Enrollments enable horses to participate in sponsored events. Fees and conditions are subject to change, so act fast.
Nevada Standardbred Racing is pending regulatory approvals, complete financing, and a track being built or converted. Nevada Standardbred performance, however, can begin immediately for Pleasure Horse events such as Rodeo, Western, Driving, English, etc. Given the significant number of arenas and performance areas in Nevada, events will begin as soon as there are a sufficient number of standardbred performers available.
NVSA would like to begin Racing under Saddle in the Fall of 2025, subject to the number of participants available. If interested in seeing more information on the Nevada Standardbred Development Program and/or being a Sponsor contact nvsa@nevadastandardbreds.com.
