Yonkers hosts NAADA Trots

YONKERS, N.Y.— John Calabrese made a winning brush to the backside and Alan Schwartz peddled down the road to take their respective $13,100 harness racing divisions for the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Spring Series on Thursday night (April 25) at Yonkers Raceway.

In the first division, Calabrese grabbed the lead with Allindotime (Andover Hall) and clinched the victory with a 2:00.2 effort.

Allindotime, off the even-money choice, sat third as Jive Ninety Five (driven by Yogi Sheridan) soared to the lead before a :29.4 first quarter and cruised to a 1:00.1 half. Calabrese got underway with Allindotime passing the half and marched forward to the lead up the backside as Jive Ninety Five broke stride.

Once on the point, Allindotime kept chugging through the final turn and down the lane to post a 2-1/4-length win over pocket-sitter Kasha’s Boy (Alan Schwartz) while Winneress (Anthony Verruso) saved ground to take third and Everyone’s Talkin (Lee Morris) followed a similar trip to finish fourth.

Bill MacKenzie trains Allindotime, a 9-year-old gelding, for owner Alma Iafelice. He paid $4 to win.

ALLINDOTIME REPLAY

Raceace (Yankee Glide) and Alan Schwartz rolled forward from the pylon post and could not be stopped as he clocked an easy 1:59 win in division two.

Schwartz secured a two-length lead to a :28.2 first quarter from Call Me Thefireman (Anthony Verruso) and coastedhro tugh the remainder of the mile. Past a :58.3 half and three-quarters in 1:28.2, all challengers to Raceace sat in the rear view while he strutted to a 2-3/4-length win over Just A Passenger (Andrew Adamczyk) who grabbed second. Muscle Dan (Tony Ciuffetelli) recovered from a break at the start to take third and Call Me Thefireman levelled off in fourth.

Alan Schwartz owns and trains Raceace, an 8-year-old gelding. Off the second choice in the betting, he paid $5.10 to win.

RACEACE REPLAY

NAADA action resumes next Thursday (May 2) with the eighth preliminary for the club’s Spring Series. Just three preliminaries remain before the final, which will take place at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday, May 23. First-race post time at Yonkers is 7 p.m. (EDT).
