The month of May brings with it a change in the live harness racing schedule at MGM Yonkers Raceway as Saturdays are added back into the mix.
While there will be a few Wednesday programs during the summer (June 26, August 7, August 14 and September 14), Yonkers will operate primarily on a Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday-Saturday slate beginning next week and continuing through the end of September.
Yonkers will host stakes events in May on Thursday the 2nd as the John Brennan Trotting Series concludes with a $78,000 final and $35,000 consolation and on the 20th when the 3-year-old trotting fillies of the New York Sire Stakes circuit are in town.
Grand Circuit racing at Yonkers returns on Friday, June 21 as elimination races are scheduled for the MGM Yonkers Trot and MGM Grand Messenger Stakes, the first legs of the Trotting and Pacing Triple Crowns for 3-year-olds. Their companion filly events – the New York New York Mile and the Park MGM Pace – are also on the docket. Those finals will occur the following Friday (June 28).
Last, but certainly not least, New York Day of Champions, the MGM Yonkers International Trot, the Robert Miecuna Invitational Trot and the MGM Aria Pace will comprise a huge program at Yonkers on Saturday, September 7 that will get underway at 12 noon (EDT).
Outside of that card on September 7, post time for the Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday-Saturday schedule will remain at 7 p.m. (EDT).
