DOVER, Del. — ElliesJet N puts an eight straight harness racing win streak on the line stepping up into the $20,000 Mares Open Handicap pace on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Dover Downs. Post time 4:30 p.m.
Since arriving in North American last Fall, Elliesjet N has started eight times in Delaware with eight wins. First, at Harrington in late October and the rest of her 2015 races at Dover Downs, the American-bred New Zelander is owned by Barry Spennen, Kevin Evans, trainer Josh Parker and Nanticoke Racing and will be driven by Art Stafford Jr. from post 2. Howard Taylor's Shine N Shimmer, a razor-sharp rival, drew the rail with Corey Callahan piloting the winner of 11 races last year.
The one to beat is stakes seasoned Jerseylicious with Allan Davis driving for Pam Curran, Niel Gargiulo and Legacy Racing, a lifetime $646,630 winner. Chris White's Fashion Showdown with Ross Wolfenden, has been an Open regular all meet. JFE Enterprise's Scandalicious and Tony Morgan should take advantage of a position change from the outside. Jeff Clark's Springforth won Rosecroft's top female pace in her last start and will be handled by George Dennis. Another newcomer, Bamond Racing's Nefertiti Bluechip reined by Brett Miller has been racing well at Yonkers recently.
The sub-feature is a $14,000 Mares Winners-Over pace with two winners last starts drawing outside post positions. Bamond Racing's Rockaround Sue (B. Miller) won at Yonkers while Weaver Bruscemi, Collura and Burke Racing's Southwind Serenity (Callahan) won last start and two of three in Chester.
The other participants are Bob Bailey's sharp Duneside Chella (Morgan), Bay Pond Racing's Hearts N Flowers (A.Davis), Foulk Stable's Valerya (Jonathan Roberts), Bob Winkleman's Paradise Lost (Montrell Teague) has the rail with John McGill's No Respect (Vic Kirby) alongside, Randall Bendis and Tom Pollack's Montenegro (Morgan) complete the field.
There is a $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 on races 4,5,6 and 7 daily.
