Under the fines and suspensions reported from racing commissions throughout the USA to the United States Trotting Association (USTA) for last week, there were a few outstanding harness racing incidents.
Trainer Heidi Cushing has received $3,000 in fines and a 30-day suspension as she has two of her horses come up with positive test results at Pocono Downs.
First was Havehorswiltrvel N on Feb. 24, 2024, for Trazodone and then on March 30, 2024, Havehorswiltrvel N was positive again, this time for Dexamethasone.
Trainer Jennifer Redmon has been fined $2,500 and suspended for 180 days as her horse, Robertsgladrunner, was positive on May 17, 2024, at Harrah’s Hoosier Park for ADB-Fubinaca (synthetic cannabinoids or cannabis) in the bloodstream. It is not known if the ruling has been appealed.
Trainer Mitchell York has been fined $1,500 at The Meadows as his horse, Rose Run Zeke, was found to be positive for Lamotrigine (an anticonvulsant which can be used to treat seizures and bipolar disorder) on July 29, 2024.
