The first major stakes race for two-year-olds, the $47,975 Tompkins-Geers Stake for harness racing pacing fillies saw nine young ladies take to the track at The Meadowlands Friday evening and when the dust settled it was 6-1 Twin B Joe Fresh (Roll With Joe) taking top honors.
It was Lioness By The Sea (Downbytheseaside) and driver Todd McCarthy leave from post nine and take control from Hungry For Love (Stay Hungry) and driver Andy McCarthy after a :28.2 opening quarter mile. Ucandoit Blue Chip (Keystone Velocity) and driver Scott Zeron sat in third along the wood.
They went by the half mile in :57.1 and then Dexter Dunn came first-over with Twin B Joe Fresh and that flushed Hungry For Love first-over before the three-quarters in 1:25.2.
Starting down the stretch, Lioness By The Sea still had the lead but then Twin B Joe Fresh collared her and then barely held off Ucandoit Blue Chip to win by a neck in 1:52.2. Lioness By The Sea was third.

It was a lifetime time for Twin B Joe Fresh.She is trained by Chris Ryder and was a $65,000 yearling purchase by co-owners Chris Ryder, Dexter Dunn, Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak. She paid $15.80 to win in her first pari-mutuel start.
Ahundreddollarbill (Chapter Seven) was given a perfect drive by Todd McCarthy and scored a mild upset in the $31,500 Four-year-old Open Trot.
The 6th race co-feature saw Deeās Red Delicous (Dexter Dunn) leave out of the gate with Incommunicado (Yannick Gingras) also leaving and taking the two-hole trip. By the first quarter in :27.2, Sonofamystery and driver Brian Sears was first-over and cleared going to the half mile in :55.1.
Then it was Gingras coming first-over with Incommunicado to the three-quarters in 1:23 and following that second-over cover was Ahundreddollarbill and McCarthy.
Coming off the last turn it was Incommunicado taking on Sonofamystery and Deeās Red Delicous and then half way down the stretch, Todd McCarthy takes Ahundreddollarbill off cover and shoots by both horses to win by two lengths in 1:50.2. Sonofamystery was second with Deeās Red Delicous third.
AHUNDREDDOLLARBILL REPLAY
It was a lifetime mark and the first win in three starts this year for Ahundreddollarbill. He is trained by Tony Alagna for owners Crawford Farms Racing and James Crawford, IV. He paid $14.20 to win.
BROWER MASTERFUL AGAIN:Ā Dave Brower had yet another big night in The Big Mās Battle of the Masterminds handicapping tournament, turning his mythical $500 bankroll into $1,090 in winning for the third time through the first five nights of the competition.
If patrons had followed all of Browerās selections to this point, they would be showing a profit of $2,165.
The contest continues every night through August 5. On-track patrons who select the winning handicapper and then win a randomĀ drawing on a given night are eligible for the $10,000 grand prize.
Brower, Dave Little, Jessica Otten, Edison Hatter and Ken Warkentin will go at it every night through August 5. The grand prize winner will be chosen on Hambletonian Day, August 6.
A LITTLE MORE:Ā With a carryover of $5,731 driving the machine, the 20-cent Pick-6 ended up with a total pool of $34,675. Those with winning tickets walked away with $1,460.46. Only one horse during the sequence went off at odds greater than 5-2. ā¦ Todd McCarthy, Andy McCarthy and Scott Zeron all recorded driving doubles. ā¦ Trainer of the Week Edwin Quevedo is gunning for a second straight trophy after schooling a pair to victory lane.
