Two new “Can You Go The Distance” series at Yonkers

MGM Yonkers Raceway has added two more Can You Go the Distance Series harness racing events to the condition sheets.

The first Can You Go The Distance Series is for horses that are non-winners of $15,000 in their last five starts, with winners in the last start of the base class “non-winners $10,000 in their last five starts” or 3-5 year olds who are non-winners of nine pari-mutuel races lifetime also eligible.

The other is for non-winners of $7,500 in their last five starts. Winners in the last start of the base class “non-winners $5,000 in their last five starts” will also be eligible to that event, though horses who won a non-winners of $7,500 last five event in their last start are not eligible.

Entrants for the NW15000L5 event will compete in three legs and a final at four distances:

-$25,000 First Leg (June 5): half-mile

-$25,000 Second Leg (June 12): one mile

-$25,000 Third Leg (June 19): mile and a sixteenth

-$40,000 Final (June 26): mile and a quarter

The NW7500L5 series will follow the same format starting on June 6 and ending with their $30,000 final on June 27.

Those interested in the Can You Go The Distance Series should note that the entry box closes at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 30 for the first leg of the series on June 5. Horses must start in the first leg to qualify for the races in the following weeks, and they must compete in all preliminary legs to be eligible for the final.
