Vel Mr Nice Guy led OnGait.com auction

Former Indiana Fair Stakes star and current Metropolitan area standout harness racing pacer Vel Mr Nice Guy sold for $84,500 on Thursday afternoon at onGait.com.

Consigned by Chris Page of Ohio, the 4yr old son of Straight Shooting was coming off a 1:48.3 Meadowlands victory on Saturday night. He will enter the Mark Beckwith Stable.

A total of 70 horses changed hands through onGait’s auctions in the past week, including Amanda Fine’s P L Ozzy p,3,1:49.3 for $60,000 to Dylan Davis of Delaware; Better Than Some p,4,1:50.4s, a 6yr old son of Betterthancheddar sold by the Dirk Simpson Stable/Lawrence Barnett partnership to Robert Cooper of Florida for $46,500; the Canadian-based Swan For All 4yr old, All The Truth 4,1:53.3, selling for $35,000 by Adriano Sorella to Pat Dillon of Ontario; and Jim Crawford’s Seveyond 2,1:58.3f, a Chapter Seven 3yr old filly going for $32,000 to Thomas Svensen as agent, representing European interests.

Currently in the onGait auction ring are Quincy Market 2,1:59.3h, a 3yr old son of E L Titan which was a multiple NYSS winner last year at two; Summer Charm p,3,1:49.4s, a $400,000 winning Bettor’s Delight mare in foal to Downbytheseaside; Oakwood Coral IR p,5,1:55.1h-’22, a Sunshine Beach mare with over $55,000 earned this year; and Scarlett’s Bigbeach p,3,1:55.4f-’22, a daughter of Big Jim with 6 wins in 11 career starts.
