HARRINGTON, DE – Harness racing owners Howard Taylor, Jeff Billings and Dylan Davis’s Virgo (Always A Virgin) with driver Corey Callahan and Peter Paul Venturiniās Sheās Pukka N (Betterthancheddar) with driver Tony Morgan won the $20,000 Harrington Raceway co-featured races Monday (Aug. 29).
Virgo was a 1:53.1 winner off a four-wide move on the final turn for trainer and co-owner Davis in achieving his third win of the year in the Open event for male pacers over Mack and Grand Cayman.
The 4-year-old gelding was making his local debut after a stint versus some top competition in Pennsylvania and most recently the Meadowlands (NJ).
Virgo made $242,845 as a 3-year-old and took a mark of 1:48.3 at Hoosier Park (Indiana). He paid $3.00 to win.
VIRGO REPLAY
In the Mares Open, Sheās Pukka N held off a fierce late charge by Peaks Cruiser for a narrow win as the heavy favorite in 1:55. Sunshineatthebeach was third.
Trained by Brian Malone and one of four driving wins on the card for Morgan, Sheās Pukka N notched her 4th win of the season. The 7-year-old mare has made over $114,000 this year and is coming off a $191,569 season as a 6-year-old. She paid $2.20 to win.
