Where are they now: Racemup

Racemup (Whataysay) is another harness racing product of St. Claude, MB that has made somewhat of a name for itself outside his home province. The eight-year-old pacer was bred by Arthur Rey and started his racing career on the fair tracks of Manitoba.

Racemup in racing action

Racemup made his racing debut in June of 2018 when he was three years old, and he won the race in the time of 2:02.3. He competed well against the other top three-year-olds during the fair circuit and even secured victory in that year’s running of the Futurity Final.

After a brief eight-race stint in Manitoba, Racemup moved onto southern Ontario that fall and got in some action at Western Fair Raceway. He also found early success at Woodbine Mohawk Park as he won his first two starts the times of 1:53.2 and 1:54.2 respectively.

Racemup continued to race in southern Ontario for the next four years while predominantly racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Western Fair Raceway, Flamboro Downs and Rideau Carlton Raceway. His performance over the years earned him the chance to enter the Gold Cup and Saucer in 2021. He finished 3rd in the eliminations and 4th in the final.

Racemup has raced well over the entirety of his career and has earned over $320,000 in winnings to date. He has made 155 appearances and found his way to the winner’s circle on 31 different occasions. Racemup has a lifetime mark of 1:51.0 which he achieved at Woodbine Mohawk Park. He has spent time with several different trainers including Ross Battin, Anthony Montini, and Victor Puddy.

Racemup now is being trained by Jamal Williams and has made two official starts in 2023. His first start of the new year was at Miami Valley Raceway where he finished fourth. His most recent start was at Northfield Park on January 31st.
