Winning Shadow (Credit Winner) trotted home for his 50th career victory, winning the sixth race at MGM Northfield Park on Sunday (June 26). The 7-year-old harness racing veteran, with 133 career starts, also has 28 seconds and 13 third-place finishes.
Winning Shadow (Credit Winner – Sheena’s Shadow – Yankee Glide) has career earnings of $723,801 with a lifetime mark of 1:52.3 set earlier this month, which equaled a world record. The gelding’s richest win was for a purse of $58,000 in a New York Sires Stake at Batavia Downs in 2018. Winning Shadow A is a well-traveled campaigner — his 133 starts have been spread across 13 different racetracks encompassing five different states.
Winning Shadow started from post two in the evening’s $18,000 Open Trot. He let his competition set the early :27 and :56.2 fractions before taking the lead in the third quarter and lot looking back through times of 1:24.4 and 1:54.3, winning by 1 ¼-lengths. He was the favorite in the race and paid $2.60 to win.
