Winning Shadow and driver Chris Lems

Winning Shadow posted his 20th win of the season at MGM Northfield Park on Sunday (December 19) capturing the evening’s $19,500 Open Trot.

His win tally ranks Winning Shadow as the winningest harness racing horse in North America so far in 2021. Moving into Sunday there was a three-way tie at 19 wins to date.

Winning Shadow’s 20 wins this year have come from 41 starts. He has also been the runner-up eight times and finished third in six races this season, an impressive feat for a horse generally assigned the outside against Open company on a ½-mile track.

The six-year-old gelding began Sunday’s victorious journey from the outside and led his competition at every call through fractions of :27.3, :57.3, 1:26 and 1:55, besting runner-up MVP Luke (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) by a full length.

WINNING SHADOW REPLAY

Winning Shadow (Credit Winner – Sheena’s Shadow – Yankee Glide) is owned by Racing To Win Stable of Chittenango, New York and is trained by Jordan Hope. His regular driver Chris Lems was again in the sulky. Winning Shadow was heavily favored and returned $3.00 to win.
