Campbell closes in on milestone

Charlottetown, PE – Best Risque will try to extend her winning streak to four in a row in the Saturday afternoon harness racing feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Post time is 12:30pm.

The nine-year-old mare leaves from post 7 in race 9 with Corey MacPherson in the bike for trainer Brian Ladner and his co-owners Lilian and Kevin Ladner, Charlottetown, PE. MacPherson came from off the pace in her last start but he could also deploy front end tactics as that plan also worked for back to back scores. Sam (Jason Hughes) and Blazing By (Brian Andrew), who made up the triactor ticket last week, will be gunning off the gate from the inside. The open mares event also includes A Fiesty X Ample (Stephen Quinn), Outrageous Spirit (Gordon Hennessey), Whitesand Artist (Gary Chappell) and Stayoutofmyaffair (Mark Bradley).

Idealic Life goes after his sixth in a row in the back-up class in race 12. Trainer Trevor Hicken has also assigned MacPherson to get the job done. This team has been perfect after their relationship began in early December reeling off impressive performances that included two trips in 1:56.3. Likely To Win (Ken Murphy) and DBS Rosco (Kenny Arsenault) are also morning line favorites but race analyst Les MacIsaac doesn't think they can spoil the party for Idealic Life and the ownership group of Perry, Luke and Robin Burke and Kent Livingston. "He'll be the favorite and rightly so since he's been nothing less than dominant since forming the partnership with Corey," said the host of Les' picks. "Looks like the only thing that's going to stop him is the end of the meet."

Pictonian Storm, who triggered a $353.70 win ticket last week, is back in to go for trainer-driver Wade Sorrie and owner Walter Simmons, Summerside, PE. The son of Western Paradise is perfect in 2016.

Marc Campbell is only one victory away from his 1,500th career win. The two-time Gold Cup champ is down to drive five horses with his first opportunity coming in the opener aboard Hog Aufray for trainer Earl Watts. Campbell's best shot comes with 5-2 choice Eagle Jolt in race 5. Campbell is also booked on Ideal Lifestyle, Bad Date and Barrett Jackson.

The harness racing fan choice awards ballot will be in the race program on Saturday. Fans will have an opportunity to select their favorites and be entered for a chance to win a Red Shores prize package.
