Veteran B.B.S. Sugarlight (7g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid-Sugarcane Hanover) won Saturday’s V75 Gold Olympiatravet Trial for 150,000SEK (US$18,395) to the winner.
B.B.S. Sugarlight was timed in 1.10.8kr, a new course record at Axevalla, after fast early fractions. The race distance was 2140 meters, autostart. Peter Untersteiner teamed the winner that now has a 20-15-11 slate in 73 career starts for earnings in excess of 6,672,000SEK.
Off at 2.8/1, the winner bested Sauveur (6m Echo-Operah Bob-Easy Lover) and driver Ake Lindblom with third to Norway’s Papagayo E (6m Coktail Jet-Ann Speedy T-Speedy Tomali) handled by UIlf Ohlsson. Venkatesh and Global Money were fourth and fifth.
The upcoming Olympia Final (April 30 at Aby Racecourse) will reportedly include B.B.S. Sugarlight, On Track Piraten, Anna Mix and Your Highness, the latter a solid winner this day at Paris-Vincennes in a non-groupe event. The Gr. I Olympia Trot race benefits the Swedish Olympic Committee and Paralympics that have received well over US$27 million since the race began that the SOC and ATG arrange.
Also at Axevalla this day were several other notable winners including Next To None Sib (9g Civil Action-Nilema Frost-Balanced Image) for trainer/driver Bjorn Goop in a 1640 meter autostart sprint test worth 125,000SEK to the winner. Bartender In (6g Muscles Yankee-Garfish Face-Viking Kronos) won for Johan Untersteiner, also trainer, in a 110,000SEK first money race over 2640 meters autostart.
Roses Glory (5f Yankee Glide-Spring Gala-Self Possessed) was second in this one for Veljo Heiskanen. A V4 event worth 100,000SEK first prize went to 3/1 odds Nobel Southwind (4g Explosive Matter-Lagunilla-Meadow Road) for trainer/driver Peter Untersteiner.
This one overcame a 20 meter distance handicap, traveling 2660 meters for victory. Another 100,000SEK first money event was a V75 Klass II test that went to Top Yllit (5g Skogans Joker-Diggers Catrine-Super Tilly) for driver Jens Laursen over 2140 meters voltstart; and the 100,000SEK first money Skara Hastlands Race was won by Tumble Dryer (4m Jacose-Wash And Wear-Smokin Yankee) for Mads H. Nielsen and trainer Tomas Malmqvist at 20/1 odds over 2140 meters autostart.
The V75-4 Klass I contest for 100,000SEWK to the winner went to 5/1 Topgear (5m Standpoint-Fancy Storm-Rapido) for trainer/driver Hans G. Eriksson; and a 2140 meter autostart event for 100,000SEK first prize went to Dark Chocolate (7f Pine Chip-Norine Hornine-Lindy’s Crown) with Johnny Takter at the lines for trainer Per Hedberg.
