Fountain Pen scores sixth straight win

Fountain Pen paced home for her sixth straight win Tuesday (September 15) in Northfield Park's 13th race. The three year-old filly is owned by Winbak Farm of Chesapeake City, MD and trained by Don Pfister. Kurt Sugg was aboard for the winning drive.

Fountain Pen started from post four and made every pole a winning one through fractional times of :28.1, :57.3, 1:26.2 and 1:55. She never experienced an anxious moment in the mile and was two lengths ahead of her competition at the wire.

Tuesday's triumph was the seventh career success for Fountain Pen (Veeza-Puccini Blue Chip-Magical Mike) and increased her lifetime earnings to $29,566. She was the overwhelming favorite and returned $2.80 to win.

Fountain Pen moved to Northfield in early August with only one win in 12 starts. However, she has excelled under Pfister's tutelage and remains undefeated over the Flying Turns.

Northfield Park Adds $15,000 Pick-5 Total Pool Guarantee to Wednesday’s Card

Northfield Park is announcing the addition of a $15,000 Pick-5 total pool guarantee to Wednesday’s (September 16) program. 

Beginning in Race 3, the $15,000 Pick-5 guaranteed total pool includes a carryover of $2,092.95.

Northfield’s Pick 5, Pick 4 and the Pick 3’s offer a reduced takeout rate of just 14 percent.   

Wednesday’s post time is 6:00 p.m.
