Following on from a noteworthy third-placed performance last week in the 'Veterans Derby', the thirteen-year-old Ladyford Lad romped to victory on Thursday 28th July at Corbiewood to notch up his first win since 2013.
The first of the six races saw last year's strong performer Camden Casper (Grant Cullen) lead out from the gate and dictate from on top. In command throughout, the duo cruised home clear of a strong finishing Dontstoptheparty (Brian Gilvear) who passed Caraghs Star (Gordon Gilvear) on the run in.

The second race featured five maidens; the grey Greentree Destiny (William Drysdale), racing for the first time for new connections, led out and was persistently challenged until the three quarter marker by GDs Warrior (William Greenhorn). From that point on the leader looked to have the race in safe keeping, coming home clear of the promising two-year-old Hawthorns Melinda (Hugh Menzies) and Bayrigg Kaitlyn (Stuart Mackenzie).
Race 2
1st Greentree Destiny (Rogue Hall-Ultramarine) – W Drysdale
2nd Hawthorns Melinda (Pierce Seelster-Dot Comm) – H Menzies

Race three saw last week's runner up in the Future Broodmares race go one better. ATM (Hugh Menzies) led out and made all, setting strong fractions throughout which suggested that the driver was confident of the mare's ability and current form. In a bunch finish for the minor honours, Bayrigg Tonto (Dougie Mckenzie) finished second with Kikis Virtue (Stuart Mackenzie) snatching third with a late run down the standside rail.
Race 3
1st ATM (Genghis Pan-Yoko Hall) – H Menzies
2nd Bayrigg Tonto (Genghis Pan-Ayr Millenium) – D Mckenzie
3rd Kikis Virtue (Scarlet And Gold-Coalford Virtue) – S Mackenzie

In race 4 San Diego (John Allan) won the early speed duel against Yokalady (William Drysdale) to head the field. Recent Aberystwyth winner Ontop Accountable (Grant Cullen) found himself parked, providing cover to Ladyford Lad (Lauren Moran) who tipped out second over at the half.
Looking confident with her charge, Moran tipped three wide down the home straight with a lap to go, taking up the running from San Diego at the three quarters. From there the result was never in doubt, as the thirteen-year-old gelding eased home from Yokalady who got up for second with long time leader San Diego finishing third.
Race 4
1st Ladyford Lad (Hasty Hall-Just Disraeli) – L Moran
2nd Yokalady (Daylon Alert-Yoko Hall) – W Drysdale

The penultimate event was a maiden and novice combined race with five facing the starter. Just A Little (William Greenhorn) led out with Lady Mary (William Drysdale) landing in second.
Not content with settling on the rail, Drysdale tipped out and made a dash for the lead approaching the quarter, continuing to set a strong pace going through the half in 1.02. Abby Days (Hugh Menzies) briefly challenged at the three quarters, however it was GDs Baby (Grant Cullen) who was last to challenge rounding the final turn and took up the running under a well-timed drive.
Race 5
1st GDs Baby (Daylon Alert-GDs Twin) – G Cullen
2nd Lady Mary (Playwithafulldeck-Marys Solitaire) – W Drysdale
3rd Abby Days (Dreamfair Vogel-Call My Bluff) – H Menzies

The final race was an OPH run in two lines over the extended distance of 1m3f. Last week's winner Bestinthewest (Brian Gilvear) and the in-form Starzapan (Stuart Mackenzie) set fast fractions in an early speed duel. When the pace settled, Bestinthewest headed the field as they raced in Indian file;
Major League Star (William Drysdale) was the first to mount a challenge approaching the half but found himself parked two wide.
The leaders went through the mile in 2.09.1 which suggested that they had the race between them, however as they rounded the final bend the leaders began to tire and last week's Future Broodmares winner Sureamsomething (William Greenhorn) took up the running with a three wide challenge, looking to have the race won. Robhall (Grant Cullen), who had raced at the rear of the field throughout, had made massive headway in the final quarter and came four wide to nail Sureamsomething on the line in a thrilling finish.
Pantihistamine (Gordon Gilvear), who had been short of racing room, switched from the outside to the inside of the track down the home straight to finish third.
Race 6
1st Robhall (Dreamfair Vogel-Yoko Hall) – G Cullen
2nd Sureamsomething (Wolfdancer Mindale-Suream Smart) – W Greenhorn
3rd Pantihistamine (The Panderosa-Panic Depressive) – G Gilvear
