WASHINGTON, PA, April 8, 2021 — Franklin County broke his maiden in spectacular fashion Thursday at The Meadows, springing a 17-1 upset in the Margaret Provost Memorial Trot in a sharp 1:56.3. Treasure Gems K captured the other $12,500 second-leg division in the series for 3-year-old harness racing filly trotters.
Franklin County hit the ticket only once in his five previous outings, but he left alertly for trainer/driver Wilbur Yoder, settling into the pocket behind opening-leg winner Night Flyer K. The daughter of Southwind Frank – Hiya Lady rolled past Night Flyer K in the lane and held off Wholelotatrot to prevail by a neck for owner McMullen Stable. Night Flyer K saved show.
FRANKLIN COUNTY REPLAY
Treasure Gems K controlled the mile for Dave Palone, never enduring a threatened moment en route to a career-fastest 1:55.2 victory. Although her margin over Kommin On Strong was only 1/2 length, Treasure Gems K was wrapped up late. Cash N Chips, who was forced wide by a breaker while rallying, was a hard-luck third.
