HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Raceway will kick off its 70th season of live harness racing Monday April 25 with a 12 race program and new 5 p.m. post time and an addition to the wagering format.
A new 50-cent based pick five wager will debut Monday for races 7 through 11, which will follow the pick four (races 3-6).
There will be a hat giveaway (while supplies last) in the grandstand at 4:45 p.m, as well as $1 live racing programs and $1 hot dogs.
As for the program, a $15,000 Open pace is the feature and will include former horse of the meet, Janet Hudson's (3-1, Victor Kirby) Just A Jolt and Foulk Stables' millionaire pacer Sparky Mark (2-1, Jon Roberts), both of whom are fresh off sub-1:50 victories and head a very good field of six. The aforementioned feature will take place sixth on the program and will wrap up the pick four.
A fundraiser for stage four cancer-stricken Layla Hunderptfund, granddaughter of trainer Joe Hundertpfund, will take place in the paddock. Sadly, the 5-year-old Mosley was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer in February.
While the clubhouse is fully booked for opening night, reservations are available for the remainder of the week. Interested parties should contact 302-398-5928 for reservations.
Live racing will continue on a Monday through Thursday schedule.
