Gaines Hanover (Cantab Hall), coming off a fifth-place finish in the Maple Leaf Trot, produced a dominant harness racing performance $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Sep. 9).
Sylvain Filion floated him out from post seven and found him a seat third to the quarter in :27.4 before following pocket-sitter Hp Mama B (Tyler Borth) to the outside. Hp Mama B took over quickly before being re-pocketed by Gaines Hanover, who reached the front and headed the field to the half in :55.3.
Gaines Hanover led unopposed into the final turn and began to separate from the rest after hitting three-quarters in 1:24. The gelding faced no further challenges as he stretched his advantage out to four lengths and cruised home to a 1:51.2 victory.
Osceola proved best of the rest, finishing second. Pemberton (Bob McClure) was third.

Gaines Hanover, a Breeders Crown champion at two, is now 11-for-34 lifetime with $816,056 in earnings. He has won four times this year in 11 tries. Claude Cadieux conditions the four-year-old for Gestion J Y Blais of Montreal.
