It was a mad dash to the finish of the $32,000 4-6-year-old Open-Handicap Pace Wednesday (May 22) at Yonkers Raceway and when the dust settled it was 10-1 Dunkinā (Pet Rock) and driver Jim Marohn, Jr. who emerged victorious after wiring the 5th race feature field.

Leaving from post six, Dunkinā shot to the lead and cut the mile to the quarter in :27.1 with Night Hawk (George Brennan) sitting the pocket trip. They continued single file past the half mile in :56.
Then the action heated up with race favorite Its A Me Mario (Jason Bartlett) coming first-over with Ever Hoping A (Ron Cushing) second-over in the backstretch and closing in on Dunkinā at the three-quarters in 1:24.3.
As they came down the stretch, Its A Me Mario had a head on Dunkin, but Dunkin wasnāt done and fought back to win by a head over Night Hawk in 1:53. Nautical Hanover (Pat Lachance) closed well to be third by a neck with Its A Me Mario fourth by a half a length.
DUNKINā REPLAY
It was the fifth win on the year for Dunkinā. The four-year-old gelding is trained by Scott Di Domenico for owner Betty Clegg and paid $23.00 to win.
