Bookie has future wagers on unraced two-year-olds

So you might have made a few dollars on future wagers on the Kentucky Derby, the Ascot or the Little Brown Jug over the years, well how about trying your luck on unraced two-year-old pacers?

Not a problem if you are one of Ireland’s top bookies named Dan Carlin from Belfast.

Carlin has just come out with the future wagers for the 2015 Ladbrokes Vincent Delaney Memorial that will be take place the weekend of August 8 and 9 at Portmarnock Trotting Track in Dublin.

He won’t accept a check and no credit will be issued, but if you are looking for the best odds you can imagine on unraced two-year-olds who still have four months to go before they begin racing, then Dan’s the man.

The Ladbrokes Vincent Delaney Memorial is the richest stakes event in all of Ireland the UK and Dan says he is ready for some wagering action.

"Imports Indie Hanover (owned by Claire Fletcher) and John Gilvear’s Rhyds Megastar by perennial UK leading sire Hasty Hall have been installed as the 7/2 joint favourites,” Dan said.  “We laid Titanium as big as 25-1 last year and he paid off for some big time when he won the Delaney Memorial.

“Now is the time to seek the value before the Big Hitters put one away.” Carlin said.

“Gilvear’s other horse New London Hanover, 6/1, then Shane Fletcher’s Party at The Spa, 8/1; Miraculous which is from the same bloodlines as two previous winners, Carlin explained. “The aforementioned are colts. Ladyford Carmel reared in the North of England at 10/1 and Thomas Bennet’s well related Westend Dakota at 12/1 are amongst the favourites of the ladies – with fillies getting the plum draw should they make the final.”

 Carlin touted that the Murdock stable of Belfast will have high hopes for their homebred JM’s Macy Hall Star, the dam of which (Camden Lover) was a top 3-year-old. With 2-years-olds from Pro Bono Best, Rocknroll Hanover, the ever present Hasty Hall and the new kid on the block, Kikikolt, the race should live up to its billing.

All the top Irish stables are represented, Newtown Stud, the organisers Oakwood Stud, Brenda Hudson with her brother Gregory Dean and they will rub shoulders with the UK yards of Haythornthwaite, Teebon and Maw amongst others.

2015 will see the first prep races to be run at both Tir Prince in Wales and Corbie Wood in Scotland some weeks in advance of the Grand Final.

“There are horses in there at 50/1, 60/1 and 100/1,” Carlin added tongue-in-cheek, “because bookies don’t believe in fairy tales.”

Dan Carlin that the usual conditions apply and this is an Ante Post Book – All In Run Or Not. Ante Post Rules will apply until One Hour before the final at which time track rules regarding withdrawals will apply.
