Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

14yo Down Under pacer wins in Ohio.

At a mighty age of 14 Montana Pablo A was once again back in the harness racing winners circle at Scioto Downs on Monday. 

Starting from the six pole driver Brett Miller lobbed the son of Blissfull Hall into the three fence position and was locked there for the majority of the race. But when it counted gaps appeared and Montana Pablo A was eased into racing room into the stretch. He then showed a quick turn of speed to wear down the front runners and win in 1:53.3. 

The winning trainer was Virgil Morgan Jr. 

Scioto Downs which was recently renamed to Eldorado Scioto Down is a racetrack based in Columbus, Ohio that homes the 1000m (5/8 mile) racetrack. 

Montana Pablo A was purchased at the 2009 yearling sales by the Graham Family in association with Montana Park Limited’s Dean Shannon in Queensland Australia. 

His racing career started as a 2yo where he was a winner and placegetter.

He then went on to win 18 races in Australia and place at Listed level.

In 2013 he was exported to the United States to purse his harness racing career. His eight years of American racing has been outstanding. Winning 51 races making a career total of 68 wins and a large $500,000 in stake earnings. While also setting a lifetime mark of 1:50.4.

A notable feat for a horse to win their first race and most recent race over 11 years apart.
