Jody Jamieson shone on Tuesday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the reinsman piloted four winners, including longshot Muscle Jack in the harness racing co-feature.
Jamieson was unfazed by Muscle Jackās 35-1 billing and ordered the gelding to take the front, which he did. Muscle Jack held the top spot through the opening quarter mile in :27, but Cafe Americano (Tyler Moore) stormed up on the backstretch and asserted himself on the lead.
Cafe Americano took the field through the half in :56.4 unopposed, but Jamison rallied Muscle Jack off the pylons turning for home and challenged the leader at three-quarters in 1:26.1. Muscle Jack quickly cleared and kicked away from his nine foes at the top of the stretch. Jamieson had to work little down the lane as Muscle Jack glided to a 1:55.2 victory.
Up And Ready finished second despite a vigorous effort by driver Doug McNair, and Lexus Kody (Trevor Henry) rolled past horses late for show. The winner blew up the toteboard as he returned $78.30.
MUSCLE JACK REPLAY
Muscle Jack, a three-year-old Muscle Mass gelding, is now two-for-eight lifetime with $15,860 in earnings. Tealicious, who was driven by Louis-Philippe Roy, charged first-over from three-eighths in the second co-feature and stayed strong in the late stages for the victory.
Roy allowed five opponents to swoop past Tealicious entering the first turn and settled the filly in sixth. Modern Mass (Roger Mayotte) set a :27.4 quarter before No Pay No Way (Rick Zeron) brushed to the front. Roy moved Tealicious on the backside prior to the half in :58, and the filly made staggering headway in the third panel.
Tealicious reached second and was in the leaderās vision as they passed three-quarters in 1:27.3. No Pay No Way held her ground in midstretch, but an unshakeable Tealicious got past under the light of the wire to prevail in 1:56.2. No Pay No Way held second over a late-closing Magic Wanda (Chris Christoforou).
The win price was $4.30.
