CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After powering by in the stretch drive last week, Arc Light will look for her third straight win in Thursday evening’s top event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Thursday’s 12-dash presentation has a 6 P.M. opening post time with the featured Fillies and Mares preferred hitting the track in race 11 for a $3,100 pot. Arc Light provided an upset in last week’s edition of this race with trainer Marc Campbell at the controls for Crossroads Racing Stable of Stratford.
The five-year-old daughter of Camystic has post 2 this week and is installed at 7-2 morning lines odds as third choice by classifier Gerard Smith. Ladylike is the early favourite in that event as David Dowling will again sit behind the track record setting daughter of Shadow Play from post 3.
Woodmere Skyroller sits on a pair of seconds heading into Thursday’s bout and gets the outside post 5 with CDP leading driver Gilles Barrieau in the seat from the Kevin MacLean barn.
Peter MacPhee places Woodmere Skyroller on top of his Post Time Picks. “Woodmere Skyroller has been razor sharp to start the meet and has finished second in back to back weeks,” MacPhee said. “Don’t forget she did have twelve wins last year and with Barrieau back in the bike they’re a good bet to hit the line first.” Also in that top field are Filly Forty Seven (To be driven by Jason Hughes) and Roselily (Brodie MacPhee).
The top trot of the evening is in race 9 with Hop Up putting her three-straight perfection to the test against the boys this week. Corey MacPherson will handle the driving duties for owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Victoria West. The seven-year-old daughter of Tad The Stud has delivered as the favourite her last three starts including a 1:58.2 victory on June 3 at Red Shores Charlottetown. Freddie was back last week with a down-the-road score of 2:00.2 for trainer-driver Campbell and gets rail control on Thursday. Glider Man (Kenny Arsenault) has been perfect in hitting the board all season but must overcome post 6 this week.
