Queensland trainer Graham Dwyer received an early birthday present when claiming the biggest race of his harness racing career at Redcliffe tonight.
Dwyerās birthday is next Sunday and the celebrations should be grand after his filly Shes Miss Devine upstaged the boys to win the $50,700 Group 3 Garrards Redcliffe Yearling Sale Series Three-Year-Old Final.
The daughter of Heston Blue Chip was one of two fillies in the $50,700 feature and also had to overcome her draw of outside the front line.
Driven by Queenslandās top driver Peter McMullen, Shes Miss Devine did most of the work outside the leader, favourite Justa Little Bit, but even that was not enough to stop her from beating her rivals by more than seven metres in a mile rate of 1:56.7.
Causing a boil over in the process at odds of $21, Shes Miss Devine beat the second favourite Manila Playboy and Nicks Pick was a further two metres away in third. Watch the replay here.
Shes Miss Devine has won her last four starts in a row, adding to her record of six wins and seven placings in 19 starts.
She is a daughter of the Holmes Hanover mare Holme Call.
This success gave Dwyer his 468th win as a trainer and McMullen his 2237 win as a driver.
Earlier in the night the Vicki Rasmussen-trained L L Cool J won the Chris Garrardās Patrons Purse and rated 1:55.8 to claim the 2280m feature, breaking Avonnovaās track record of 1:56.5 which has stood since March 2014.
