Ten-year-old trotter Ramas Last Son has more than 200 starts to his name, and the Majestic Son gelding secured a harness racing win in his ninth consecutive season on Saturday at Kawartha Downs.
Pilot Reg Gassien hurried Ramas Last Son into the vacant pocket spot from post six after the start as the two inside starters broke stride. He followed leader Janes Angel (John Thomson) as the latter cut out fractions of :28.4, :57.4, and 1:27.2 on the lead.
Ramas Last Son swung to the outside as they turned for the stretch. He quickly put away the leader and outfinished a closing Ken Kan Win (Ryan Guy) to take the conditioned trotting co-feature by three quarters of a length. Ken Kan Winās late rush landed him the place spot, and Angels Kid (Tyler Jones) finished third. The win price was $3.10.

Ramas Last Son has been owned by Baxmar Holsteins Ltd. of Port Hope and trained by Russell Bax since 2015. The journeyman gelding has won 27 of 202 career attempts and surpassed $350,000 in earnings with the Saturday score.
Kawartha Downs also hosted five non-winners of one or $5,000 lifetime events on the card, each with an identical $4,800 purse.
Hello Mr P, a sophomore State Treasurer gelding, was the most convincing winner of the bunch with a margin of seven and a quarter lengths in 1:58. Guy drove and Mitchell Tierney trains for Jemaxpo Racing Stable LLC of Wellington. The horse is one-for-two lifetime.
Overwatch also made his second start a winning one as he took the third race by a length and a half in 1:59.1 under the guidance of Jones. The three-year-old Hes Watching colt is a homebred for owner Bonnie Oddie of Joyceville. Timothy Gillespie trains.
Chuck The Cheese doubled his career win tally as he went wire-to-wire in 1:55.4 with Nick Boyd in the sulky. Thomas Riley trains Chuck The Cheese, a three-year-old gelded son of Betterthancheddar, for breeder and owner Amanda Riley or Roseneath.
Lindsey Treelane broke her maiden in 1:59.3 despite going off stride in the first quarter for driver and trainer Murray Brethour. Lindsey Treelane is a three-year-old Royalty For Life filly thatās owned by breeder Patricia Whittaker Trust of Aspers.
Windsun Gaga made it two straight as she went all the way in 1:56 for driver/trainer Isaac Waxman. Tess Waxman of Ridgeville and Christine Marion of Cambridge are partners on the horse, a three-year-old Hes Watching filly.
Kawartha Downs will return on Saturday, Jun. 26 for another card or racing.
