The eight-year-old New Zealand-bred mare took the pocket spot under orders from Jean Rene Plante and allowed Casimir Swamp Girl (Colin Kelly) to make the front in a :28.2 first quarter mile. Casimir Swamp Girl hit the half in :57 but soon had company has Sly Eleanor N popped the pocket on the backstretch.

Sly Eleanor tripped the timer for the third quarter in 1:24.2 and put away her foe on the final turn. She then coasted to the finish to win by three lengths in 1:52.2. Casimir Swamp Girl finished second, and So Frisky (Travis Henry) emerged third from a show photo. The winner’s dominance was reflected in her $2.80 win price.

Sly Eleanor N has won 17 of her 85 career starts and raked in $237,105. Gary Lance trains the daughter of Mcardle and co-owns her with Brian Samis; both are residents of Port Perry. The mare won one of her 10 starts in the United States in 2021. The victory came at Harrah’s Philadelphia on May 7 in a $6,300 conditioned contest.

Plante and Scott Coulter had two wins each on the day.

Georgian Downs is returns on Sunday, Jun. 20. The Innisfil, Ontario track will host 10 races on that day, including another Preferred 3.
