Chatelroll and Spoiler Alert capture the harness racing co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May1).
Chatelroll (Frank Affrunti) charges late to win the $7,000 Open Pace.
Major Leaguer (Jimmy Whittemore) grabbed the lead and led to the first quarter in :26.2. Wind Blast (Justin Huckabone) then took control and led to the half in :55.1. He continued to lead the pack to three-quarters in 1:24.0.
As they made the turn for home Chatelroll ($19.20) made his move and battled Wind Blast all the way down the stretch. Chatelroll wrestled the lead away to win in 1:51.1. Wind Blast settled for second money with Major Leaguer finishing third.

Chatelroll is a 5-year-old horse by Roll With Joe. He is owned by the Purple Haze Stables and trained by George Ducharme. He is one for one in 2021. It was career win number 12.
Spoiler Alert (Truman Gale) hangs on to win the $7,000 Open Trot.
If Not Why Not (Chris Long) laid down all the early fractions (:27, :56, 1:24.2).
Spoiler Alert ($11.20) was fourth at the half and third after three-quarters. He went flying down the stretch and held off a late rush by runner-up American JJ (Michael Miller) to win in a career best time of 1:54.0. Bourbon Express (John MacDonald) finished third.

Spoiler Alert is a 7-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is owned by Jeffrey Hayes and trained by Misty Carey. It was his first win this season. He now owns 17 career victories.
