Willyorwonthe trotted away with the Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap harness racing feature after braving the three-wide path through the first turn at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday.
Colin Kelly deployed a lead-at-all-costs strategy as he flung the gelding wide into the first turn from post six. Willyorwonthe poured on the speed as they entered the backstretch and acquired the top spot prior to hitting the first quarter mile marker in :28.
Kelly slowed the tempo to middle splits of :57.1 and 1:26.3 before urging Willyorwonthe to open up on the home turn. The horse responded, and Kelly was motionless in the bike as the gelding coasted home to win in 1:56.3.
Ok Jasmine (Jean Rene Plante) enjoyed a pocket trip and came home in second. Dress To The Nines (Nick Steward) was third throughout. The win price was $11.40.
