He fired out to an early lead for driver Doug McNair but was overtaken by Century Farroh (Sylvain Filion) as they banked into the first turn. Century Farroh carved out a :27.1 first quarter and :56 half with no resistance, but Wheels On Fire slid out of the pocket going into the final turn and quickly dispatched the leader after three-quarters in 1:23.1. Wheels On Fire paced strongly to the finish and stopped the clock in 1:49.1, the fastest mile of his winning streak.

Century Farroh finished second, and Points North (James MacDonald) was third.

WHEELS ON FIRE REPLAY

Wheels On Fire, a six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding, is now 30-for-79 lifetime, and he has raked in $516,523 in earnings. Richard Moreau trains $5.70 winner for Brad Grant of Milton.

James MacDonald and Jody Jamieson were the evening’s most successful reinsmen with three victories apiece.

Woodbine Mohawk Park will be back on Monday, Jun. 28 with 10 dashes beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
