Tempra Hanvoer battled through the majority of the Monticello Raceway harness racing feature pace on Thursday and overcame a three-wide slog over the muddy surface to win it.
Jim Devaux urged the mare forward into the first turn from post three, but inside foes Junior Man (Kyle Dibenedetto) and Uncle Qwackers (Michael Merton) also sought the lead. The trio went three-abreast into the first turn and continued to squabble down the backstretch. Tempra Hanover took the top spot at the quarter mile pole in :28.2 and got a second-quarter breather with a half in :59.
Devaux began encouraging the mare as rivals encroached two and three-wide going to three-quarters in 1:29.2. Tempra Hanover created a one length gap turning for the stretch and laboured home to win in 1:59.2 over gaining rivals. Junior Man was short by three quarters of a length. Rhonatoldme (Braxten Boyd) went from last to third.
