SUMMERSIDE, PE – Moonshine Monday may have left from the second tier in his Atlantic Sires Stakes trot division but harness racing driver Myles Heffernan Sr. still found a way to leave sharply and put himself in position for the win Tuesday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The $19,620 Atlantic Sires Stakes- PEIHRIA two-year-old trot division had Berts Legacy (Driven by Paul Lanigan) fire sharply to the front in a 32.4 opening quarter with Moonshine Monday following her helmet at the beginning to get away third. The son of Armbro Barrister then started a first-over advance and took over the lead past the half of 1:06.3 before tripping the three-quarters in 1:37.3. His foes came calling in the stretch but Moonshine Monday held on by a quarter-length in 2:08.2 over Mr Miller (Corey MacPherson) and Up Helly Aa (Ken MacDonald). Myles Heffernan Jr., trains the winning trotter for owner Jackie Heffernan.
