Brocks Fortune headed the field throughout the co-featured pace on Saturday at Hanover Raceway with help from a scattered beginning from rivals.
He left the start sharply and was gifted a clear path to the lead when Fern Hill Breeze (Patrick Keech) broke stride and backed up rail-sitter Sabine Pass (Paul Davies). Brocks Fortune was 10 lengths clear at the quarter mile mark in :29 for driver Brett Macdonald. The remaining contenders bridged that gap in a softer second quarter, which the field of seven finished in 1:00.
Brocks Fortune took his six foes to three-quarters in 1:28.2 while turning away first-over challenger Podium Seelster (Colin Kelly). Brocks Fortune then kicked away again in the stretch and secured a three-and-a-quarter-length win in 1:57.2. Release The Baby (Ross Battin) got place money; Easy Flyer (Ryan Desroche) was behind them in third.
BROCKS FORTUNE REPLAY
Brocks Fortune, a $3.40 winner, is now 37-for-190 lifetime with $437,928 in earnings. Macdonald and trainer Taylor Fritz are each part-owner of the 11-year-old Stonebridge Regal gelding.
Kevmarvalous earned the earlier co-feature score with a mid-race brush to the front.
He lost ground on the first turn due to the post five draw, and he drifted back to fourth on the pylons. Bruce Richardson, after remaining patient through the :28 first quarter, right-lined the gelding to go first-up before the half in :58. Kevmarvalous overtook Marzannk Hanover (Colin Kelly) for the lead while going to three-quarters in 1:26.2, and he sealed the deal from there.
Richardson had Kevmarvalous wrapped up as the pair crossed the finish line ahead by three and a quarter lengths in 1:56. Marzannk Hanover re-rallied to snatch the place position. Amazon Dragon (Tyler Moore) finished third. The winner paid $8.20.
KEVMARVALOUS REPLAY
Kevmarvalous has now won two straight following a spell of fourteen winless tries. Bruce Gilkonson trains and owns the four-year-old Delmarvelous gelding. Kevmarvalous is five-for-26 in his career and has made $40,793.
Hanover Raceway returns to action on Saturday, Jul. 17.
