Harness racing horseman Kelly Hoerdt steered six horses, including three of his trainees, to victories on Sunday at Century Downs.

After catch driving winners Nevada Vacation (1:56.2) and Cenalta Sunrise (1:55.3) to maiden-breaking and career-best scores, respectively, Hoerdt hopped aboard his Watch Me Boogie and oversaw the mare taking a new career mark in a 1:54.3 win. Hoerdt co-owns Watch Me Boogie, a four-year-old daughter of Hes Watching, with Blair Poliakiwski of St. Albert. The mare is 10-for-36 in her career with just less than $50,000 in earnings.

Hoerdt then drove the Carl Archibald-trained Outlaw Sharktastic to a fastest lifetime victory in 1:53.4 before winning aboard two more pupils for six wins in the sulky and three as a conditioner.

Hoerdt dropped his Codename Cigar Box back to seventh early, but the pair made steady progress after the quarter and gained eight lengths in the stretch to lower the horse’s lifetime mark to 1:53.4 in his fourth career trip to the winner’s circle. Codename Cigar Box, a three-year-old Custard The Dragon colt, has earned $39,019 in 13 appearances for co-owners Hoerdt, Corbeil, and Fred Gilbert of Brandon.

The Beaumont-based horseman closed his account by driving Good Day Is Coming to a gritty first-over 1:55.4 victory. Hoerdt co-owns the five-year-old daughter of Western Terror with Carol Dunbar of Richardson. Good Day Is Coming has won 25 for 78 career starts and has compiled earnings of $97,200.

Hoerdt took over the trainers’ standings with his superb night and extended his lead on top of the reinsmen’s table.

Century Downs returns to action on Tuesday, Jul. 13 with an $8,100 Open highlighting a 10-race selection that will begin at 2:15 p.m. MDT.
