Down Under winners with Carter Dalgety

Down Under Pacer takes centre stage in huge match race.

Provocative Prince N, a former down under pacer was in the eyes of the American harness racing scene on Wednesday at Yonkers Raceway in New York. 

The stage was set due to a two horse match race between Provocative Prince N and Sumthinbouthim. But the drivers were the attraction to the race as in the bike was hall of fame driver and winner of over 12,000 races Tim Tetrick and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship of mixed martial arts) lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Tetrick a champion driver in his sport of harness driving in America took the reins on Sumthinbouthim and UFC Champion Oliveira was behind the 10yo down under pacer Provocative Prince N. 

Oliveira a Brazilian national has a passion for harness racing and trains/drives his own horses in his country of Brazil around tracks and down roadsides. 

A match race promoted largely throughout American racing streams bought a large crowd and positive hype to Yonkers Raceway. 

Tetrick started from the 1 pole and lead out from the starting gate for the first lap but the competitive mixed martial arts champion made a big move at the half and scooted up the inside of Tetrick to take the lead and adopted the catch me if you can tactics from then on.

Oliveira and Provocative Prince N did enough to hold off challenges from Tetrick to win the match race in 1:56.4.

Provocative Prince N a son of Grinfromeartoear was bred in New Zealand by Gavin Chin and raced by trainer David Mitchell

Before being exported to North America in 2016, he won six races and placed on a further 14 occasions for just shy of $70,000 in stake earnings.
