SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund is pleased to announce it will be sponsoring livestreams of four New York County Fair racing events this harness racing season.
The first broadcast will take place on opening day of the Hemlock “Little World’s” Fair in Livingston County on Tuesday, July 20. First post is 12:00 p.m. with the pre-show kicking off at 11:30 a.m. This will also feature a live remote from racing at the Lewis County Fair in Lowville on the same day. Lewis County is celebrating its 200th fair in 2021 and they will be honored on their opening day for making harness racing a prominent part of their centuries-long fair tradition.
Livestreams will also be available from the Chemung County Fair in Horseheads on Tuesday, Aug. 3, and from the Trumansburg fair in Tompkins County on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Broadcasts each day will begin at 11:30 a.m. with post time for the first race at 12:00 p.m.
The racing season will wrap up with the New York County Fair Finals broadcast live from Goshen Historic Track in Orange County on Sunday, Sept. 5.
Live racing action on these dates can be accessed from the New York Sire Stakes website (click here). A broadcast team will offer live updates and commentary before and during the races.
“We are excited to partner with these fairs on this exciting opportunity to reach new fans and provide live coverage to owners who aren’t able to travel with their horses,” said M. Kelly Young, Executive Director of the Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund. “We hope this will encourage people to learn more about the Sire Stakes program and harness racing as we continue to expand our fair coverage.”
The New York Sire Stakes County Fair series features non-pari-mutuel harness racing open to eligible 2 and 3 year-old New York-bred Standardbreds. The events provide young horses with the opportunity to earn as they learn, while bringing the community together for a series of races.
