CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A hard hitting group of harness racing pacing mares will meet Thursday evening for the top event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Capital oval will host 12 dashes Thursday with the $2,900 featured fillies and mares pace lining up in race 11.

Woodmere Skyroller heads the Fillies and Mares Pace at Red Shores

Woodmere Skyroller has the outside in that field of six with Corey MacPherson picking up the driving duties again for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.

The daughter of Rollwithitharry was third in Atlantic Aged Pacing mares series action her last start at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia, charging home in the stretch drive.

The morning line favourite in Thursday’s bout is post 4 starter Ms Moyse with Adam Merner in the seat for trainer Melissa Rennie. Also in the field are Killean Finale (To be driven by Ken Murphy), Miss Kabana (Brodie MacPhee), The Time To Win (Marc Campbell) and Gonna Fool Ya (David Dowling).

Peter MacPhee places Woodmere Skyroller on top of his Post Time Picks. “Woodmere Skyroller had to face the best mares in the region last out and was less than a length away at the finish. She makes the move back to PEI and with the way she can fly home we think she reaches up and grabs the gold.”

The top trot lines up in race 8 with $2,500 at stake with the Jackpot Hi5 part of the betting menu. Mile Hill Willie will look to make up for his break in stride last time out from post 3 with Gilles Barrieau at the lines for trainer Paul Morrison. His top foes are slated to be Glider Man (Walter Cheverie) and Freddie (Campbell).
